An Exclusive Interview with Award-Winning Bartender Eduardo at El Primo Sanchez

Getting to Know Eduardo Eduardo's Journey in Hospitality

Eduardo's journey in hospitality began in Mexico City, where he pursued a degree in hospitality management focusing on hotels and resorts. During his studies, he seized the opportunity to apply for an internship overseas, which led him to Australia. Although he initially worked in hotels, Eduardo soon realized that his passion lay in restaurants and bars. Over time, he gained experience and honed his skills, culminating in his current role at El Primo Sanchez.

The Path to El Primo Sanchez

Eduardo's connection with El Primo Sanchez started through Stefano, a close acquaintance from his early days in Australia. Despite multiple opportunities to collaborate over the years, the timing never seemed right until Stefano found the perfect project—a Mexican-themed agave bar. The moment Eduardo saw Stefano's passion for the project, he knew he wanted to be a part of it. The journey to establishing El Primo Sanchez has been challenging but extremely rewarding for Eduardo.

Behind the Success Hospitality with Heart

Eduardo emphasizes the importance of passion and dedication in hospitality. He believes in taking risks and being open to learning new skills, which was crucial in his transition from hotels to bars. His advice to aspiring bartenders is to be patient and keep refining their craft. Eduardo's journey is a testament to the fact that determination and a willingness to learn can lead to remarkable success.

World-Class Competitions

Eduardo's participation in cocktail competitions, particularly the Diageo World Class, has been a significant part of his career. He recalls the intense preparation and the valuable lessons learned from competing against some of the best bartenders in the world. Winning the World Class Australian Bartender of the Year was a dream come true for him, and he continues to mentor and inspire others in the industry.

Reflections and Future Plans Mentorship and Teaching

As Eduardo continues to excel in his career, he finds joy in mentoring and teaching the younger generation of bartenders. He believes that guiding others and sharing his knowledge is just as fulfilling as achieving personal success. Eduardo enjoys a balanced work life, involving both hands-on service and creative endeavors.

Future Competitions While Eduardo remains passionate about competitions, he plans to take a step back from the intense preparation required for large-scale events like World Class. Instead, he is focusing on more manageable competitions that align with his interests. Recently, he participated in a Danish whiskey competition, which he found both refreshing and exciting.

Conclusion Eduardo's story is an inspiring example of how passion, dedication, and a willingness to take risks can lead to extraordinary achievements in the hospitality industry.
